I recently played through the 2021 Myst Remake, beat it in a day, and loved it. I realize why it’s considered a classic.
This weekend I played through Riven: The Sequel to Myst. I’m not really a fan. Myst’s puzzles were primarily local to one area. Beat that area? Beat that part of the game and move on to the next. Complete all the areas? Complete the game.
Riven is basically one giant puzzle where everything interconnects. That sounds cooler on paper than playing through it. And the animations are slow for everything so trekking across the whole map to write down something you forgot is really annoying.
